Job summary

Safeway in Homer, AK seeks a Person In Charge (PIC) to lead store operations in the manager's absence, ensuring profit, efficiency and customer service. Responsibilities include supervising staff, cash handling, and maintaining policy adherence.

The PIC acts as Cashier-Checker, may work across departments, and carries authority to resolve issues during night shifts while maintaining a safe, clean store environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within policy.
• Responsible for supervising all store personnel during the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers.
• Maintains familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Supervises the sales floor to monitor service and replenishment of products.
• Replaces stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Assists other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
• Operates electronically scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill and provides correct change.
• May be responsible for completing close of day functions in the office and counting tills when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
