Job summary

Safeway, Inc. in Bend, Oregon seeks a Person In Charge (PIC) to serve as the primary contact for customers and to assume store leadership in the absence of store management.

The PIC will supervise store staff at night and perform cashier responsibilities, with duties spanning multiple departments as needed to maintain profit, efficiency, and exceptional customer service. The role requires strong customer service, the ability to handle emergencies, and a good grasp of store policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within store policy.
• Handle emergencies, complaints, and supervise store personnel.
• Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Supervise the sales floor and replenish products.
• Replace stock in displays around checkout area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in-store.
• Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate electronic scanning cash register and total customer bills.
• Receive payment and count back change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out.
• May complete close of day tasks in the office.
• May count stock and tills when others leave.
• Other duties as assigned.
