Job summary

Dollar General is hiring an Assistant Store Manager in Knoxville, TN to support daily operations with a customer-first focus. You’ll supervise staff, manage merchandising, deposits, and paperwork, and step in for the Store Manager as needed.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. Responsibilities include scheduling, training, safety meetings, planogram execution, and ensuring asset protection through cash control procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• At least 1 year of retail experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate the POS.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling and training staff, and conduct safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensure cash handling accuracy and deposit procedures; support refunds/overrides.
• Assist in store management in the Store Manager's absence.
