Job summary

Safeway in Livermore, CA is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and Assistant Store Director are unavailable. The role supports customer service, staff training, and interview coordination while ensuring merchandising execution.

The person will coordinate with late shifts, guide day-to-day operations, and assist with hiring decisions and safety programs to maintain store standards and performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Four or more years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Collaborates with the ASD on center of store operations and covers for the ASD when needed.
• Oversees total store operation, supervises employees, and handles customer complaints in the absence of SD/ASD.
• Initiates corrective action as needed in the absence of SD/ASD.
• Acts as liaison between SD/ASD and late shift operations to ensure smooth store operations.
• Promotes enthusiastic customer service and engages in suggestive selling.
• Manages ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and merchandising with department leads.
• Prepares night/day stockers lists for closing/day shifts.
• Builds and executes marketing and merchandising plans with Head Clerks and PICs.
