Job summary

Safeway seeks a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and ASD are absent. The role supports leadership development, customer service, training of new employees, and merchandising execution to drive store performance.

The position requires strong supervisory and communication skills, with the ability to work late shifts and coordinate with the leadership team to maintain store standards and safety. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Four or more years retail experience, grocery preferred.
• Proficient customer service and supervisory skills.
• Strong written and oral communication, leadership, and teamwork.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and supervise operations and training.

Responsibilities

• Oversees total store operations during closing shifts in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Trains and supervises staff, handles customer complaints, and coordinates hiring needs.
• Prepares night stocker lists and directs day stockers during shifts.
• Assists with merchandising execution and marketing plans.
• Ensures safety culture and training compliance.
