Job summary

Safeway in Northern California is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee the total store operation when the Store Director and Assistant Store Director are unavailable. This role supports customer service, training, hiring, merchandising, and day-to-day shifts, focusing on closing and late shifts.

You will supervise staff, handle customer issues, coordinate with the ASD, implement merchandising policies, prepare night stockers' tasks and participate in safety programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) requirement.
• Four or more years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and supervisory skills required.
• Knowledge of basic math and weights and measures helpful.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Fills in for ASD on days off or when ASD is substituting for Store Director.
• Supervises all employees and handles customer complaints in the absence of SD/ASD.
• Initiates corrective action and liaises between late shift operations and store leadership.
• Coordinates merchandising, ordering, receiving, stocking, and pricing with late shift staff.
• Develops marketing and merchandising plans with heads and clerks.
• Ensures safety culture and programs are followed in-store.
