Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and ASD are unavailable. You will supervise staff, ensure service quality, and support hiring and merchandising initiatives.

The role offers leadership development opportunities within the Safeway banner. Responsibilities include closing store operations, coordinating with late shift teams, and training new hires while maintaining safety and policy compliance across the department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Four or more years of retail experience required.
• Grocery retail experience preferred.
• Strong supervisory and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Close shifts to run total store operations in the absence of senior leadership.
• Coordinate with late shift staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Handle customer complaints and maintain high service standards.
• Train new employees and participate in Hiring and onboarding processes.
• Assist with merchandising, ordering, stocking, and pricing.
• Develop marketing and merchandising plans with store leadership.
