Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations in the absence of the Store Director and ASD. The role supports customer service, training new employees, and selecting candidates for interviews while coordinating with late shift teams.

Responsibilities include managing closing shifts, supervising staff, handling customer issues, ordering and merchandising tasks, and preparing night/day checklists for stockers, with potential career development into store management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Four or more years retail experience preferred.
• Proficient customer service and supervisory skills.
• Strong written and oral communication, leadership, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Supervises late shift operations and coordinates with the ASD/Store Director as needed.
• Oversees total store operation, including staff supervision and handling of customer complaints.
• Trains Head Clerks/PICs for promotion to Third Person in Charge.
• Coordinates with late shift employees/department leads for day-to-day operations and merchandising.
