Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and Assistant Store Director are unavailable. You will supervise staff, ensure customer service excellence, train new employees, and assist with merchandising and hiring decisions.

This role leads the late shift, coordinates with department leads, and helps implement company policies to maintain store standards and drive sales. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Education level: High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Minimum 4 years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and ASD.
• Supervises all employees and handles customer complaints in the absence of leadership.
• Coordinates with late shift employees/department leads for day-to-day operations and training.
• Assists with ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising duties.
• Trains Head Clerks and PICs for possible promotion to Third Person in Charge.
