Job summary

Safeway in California is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee total store operations when leadership is absent. The role includes customer service, training new employees, and coordinating hiring and merchandising activities to support store goals.

This position emphasizes supervision, problem solving, and hands-on management of daily store tasks, with opportunities for advancement within Albertsons Companies.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum four years of retail experience, preferably in grocery.
• Experience in customer service supervision and store operations.

Responsibilities

• Close shifts and run total store operations in the absence of SD/ASD.
• Coordinate with ASD for center of store operations and cover days off.
• Supervise employees and handle customer complaints when managers unavailable.
• Initiate corrective actions as needed during absence.
• Liaise between Store Director and late shift to ensure smooth operations.
• Drive customer-focused selling and handle customer relations.
• Perform ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and merchandising duties.
• Prepare night and day shift task lists for stockers.
• Assist with hiring processes and onboarding for new hires.
• Support merchandising policies and store standards.
• Train Head Clerks/PICs for possible promotion.
