Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. in Decorah, IA is seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee donations flow, merchandising, and staff supervision, reporting to the Store/Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include coordinating activities of Sales Associates and Production Workers, ensuring customer service, cash handling, safety, and daily store operations, with availability for some weekend/evening hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of Sales Associates, Utility Workers, Team Leads, ADC Attendants, and Production Workers.
• Delegate assignments and guide staff to achieve growth and store goals.
• Lead by example to ensure best practices and SOP compliance.
• Provide comprehensive training on duties, policies and ethics.
• Evaluate performance and take corrective action when needed.
• Oversee merchandise quality and production output to meet sales goals.
• Handle cash, money handling, paperwork and deposits.
• Provide tools and guidance to keep store operations smooth.
• Maintain store/warehouse appearance, safety, and housekeeping.
• Support merchandising, inventory, and customer service relations.
• Complete documentation: sales, schedules, production statistics.
• Assist in hiring processes and conducting interviews.
• Represent store/operations to internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate to maximize service opportunities and continuous improvement.
• Review sales and performance metrics to set standards and action plans.
• Work with supervisor to promote revenue-generating activities.
• Availability during nontraditional hours including some weekends/evenings.
• Emergency contact for agency locations outside regular hours.
• Ensure customer service, quality merchandise, competitive prices, and positive donor/shopping experience.
• Analyze monthly production, sales and donor reports to identify weaknesses and correct them.
• Cover Store/Operations Manager absence; may travel to other locations.
• Operate forklift truck as required.
• Complete all duties of the job and work requirements.
