Job summary

Chico's FAS, Inc. in Lynchburg, VA seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support the store manager in sales, operations, asset protection and HR to deliver great customer experiences and profitability.

You will schedule, coach associates, manage cash, oversee inventory, merchandising, and compliance, while recruiting and developing staff across the district. This role requires strong leadership and a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Minimum 3 years prior retail or sales management experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to travel to stores throughout the district.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations.
• Able to operate register and lift 50 pounds; standing and maneuvering on sales floor and stockroom.
• Regular attendance is essential; flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepares weekly schedules to ensure floor coverage within fiscal guidelines; reviews time sheets and payroll documentation.
• Promotes customer service by greeting and assisting customers; responds to inquiries and complaints professionally.
• Supervises associates engaged in sales, inventory receipt, reconciled cash receipts, and customer services.
• Models sales expectations and communicates product knowledge to customers; helps locate merchandise based on customer needs.
• Maintains a visually appealing store with high standards of housekeeping and merchandising.
• Trains associates on visual merchandising techniques.
• Monitors associate sales activities and provides performance feedback; motivates and trains staff.
• Performs cash handling, price changes, and merchandise handling in line with policy.
• Administers inventory receipt/dispatch, daily replenishment, and physical inventories.
• Facilitates and manages general store operations ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Supports compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and procedures; conducts training on controls.
• Assists in recruiting, hiring, and development of store associates; provides coaching and feedback.
• Other duties as assigned.
