Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts seeks an Assistant Store Manager in Kansas City to help supervise daily store operations, sales, and appearance. This role prepares for advancement to a management position and involves staffing, training, safety, and KPI oversight.

You will collaborate with the Store Manager and District Manager to recruit, evaluate, and develop team members, ensure policy compliance, and drive profitability through effective processes and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Must complete Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training, and Manager Development Program.
• Ability to read and match numerical/alpha characters quickly and accurately.
• Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment and systems.
• O’Reilly store and/or distribution center experience (desired).
• Completed O’Reilly management training program (desired).
• Advanced computer skills (desired).
• ASE Certification (desired).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the professional and retail operations of the store and team members involved.
• Work with District Manager and Store Manager on recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and discharging team members.
• Communicate information from Zipline and store managers’ meetings to all team members.
• Train new team members and handle performance evaluations with pay increases.
• Assist in hiring by completing recruiting tasks and interviewing candidates.
• Support store manager in safety, training, and compliance across areas including scheduling and payroll.
• Manage scheduling, payroll, cash handling, and store security.
• Oversee store vehicle maintenance and delivery fleet records.
• Review monthly P&L with store manager and discuss opportunities.
• All other duties as assigned.
