Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited to a defined period.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and cash security, while ensuring compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Reading diagrams, safety rules and operating instructions.
• Able to perform basic math and percentages.
• Cash handling and deposit controls experience.
• Familiar with IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Awareness of cash, safety and store security policies.
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Well-organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to varied situations and problem solve.
• Spanish language skills preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing.
• Assist inventory management, including damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash handling, deposits and safety controls are followed.
• Support financial integrity and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete documentation per guidelines.
