Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in the effective implementation of store processes, supervise staff, and manage inventory, stocking, and paperwork. This temporary role helps foster development for the Store Manager path.

You will participate in recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, cashier accountability, and store operations, including opening/closing and maintaining a safe, well-stocked store.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and operate IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, SAFE/STARS).
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities.
• Problem solving with limited standardization; bilingual Spanish speakers preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to practices and direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores; provide a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
