Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in day-to-day operations, including supervision, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store needs. This limited-period role focuses on developing an external candidate for the Store Manager position.

The role emphasizes frontline leadership, adherence to company procedures, and support across opening/closing, cashier controls, and store maintenance to drive performance and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assists in all aspects of inventory management (including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork, and controls); prepares inventories.
• Follows prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Acts as a role model by following Company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensures safe deposit of all Company funds; cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintains clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operates store in manager’s absence.
• Reviews operating statements for trends, expenses, shrink, and errors.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
