Kroger Family of Companies is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store leadership in day-to-day operations, team development, and customer service excellence. You will help drive engagement, reinforce Friendly & Fresh standards, and manage performance across departments.

The role emphasizes coaching, scheduling, training, and collaboration with HR to build strong teams while controlling expenses and achieving sales targets.

Responsibilities

• Address all customer inquiries and complaints in a friendly and timely manner.
• Assist the store manager with day-to-day store operations (e.g., store walks, huddles, close the loop calls, scheduling vacation relief).
• Host department meetings to ensure department leaders and associates understand and support Friendly & Fresh operational best practices and store standards.
• Lead, coach and teach other assistant store managers in their roles and responsibilities and the performance of store duties.
• Communicate all necessary information to store associates enabling them to effectively carry out their duties.
• Encourage department leaders and associates to identify improvement opportunities around Friendly & Fresh; empower them to develop solutions and implement action plans.
• Ensure effective training and department programs are in place to support new store initiatives.
• Utilize key tools and metrics to evaluate store performance, recognize trends, and analyze operations to reduce shrink, increase freshness, maximize sales/profits.
• Analyze and manage store staffing and scheduling using forecasting tools and performance reports.
• Assist the store manager in conducting interviews, training associates and providing timely feedback.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
• Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties, complete performance reviews and provide feedback.
• Travel to stores to conduct store visits and assist in day-to-day operations.
