Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to oversee all store operations, including staffing, ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation and selling. You will lead a team, train employees, conduct performance evaluations and ensure policy compliance.

You will personally open and close the store multiple times per week, manage inventory and cash, drive safety standards, and maintain a clean, inviting environment while delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and company policies.
• Provide training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions and counseling, up to termination.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings to promote safety and policies.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Open/close the store at least twice per week.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for cost control.
• Manage inventory by ordering, reviewing plan and cycle counts.
• Ensure merchandise is presented with proper pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and cash accountability.
