Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to lead all aspects of a busy retail location. You will oversee planning, staffing, training, and the execution of store processes to optimize sales and customer service.

Responsibilities include staffing, ordering, inventory control, merchandising, and safety compliance. You will drive performance through staff development, policy adherence, and daily operations—opening and closing the store, managing cash controls, and ensuring a welcoming shopping

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and operation instructions.
• Able to perform basic math calculations (percentages, etc.).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Experience with IBM cash register reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, facilities and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and retain qualified employees per laws and company policies.
• Provide training for employees; conduct evaluations and counseling as needed.
• Manage staffing levels and scheduling; open and close store properly.
• Review operating statements to identify sales trends and profitability opportunities.
• Order and stock to meet in-stock targets; manage inventory processes weekly.
• Ensure effective merchandising, pricing and signage of products.
• Maintain cashier accountability and store security; manage paperwork and compliance.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and maintain a clean, safe store.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available to perform tasks.
