Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead daily operations, staffing, training, and execution of store processes. You will oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, and safety standards while ensuring a high standard of customer service and operational excellence.

Responsibilities include workforce planning, performance reviews, inventory control, cash handling, and compliance with company policies and federal/state laws.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Know cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Operate IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Understand inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills in a team environment.
• Know recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Understand cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc).
• Maintain good organization and attention to detail.
• Able to solve problems in varied situations.
• Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to labor laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions or counseling up to termination.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to encourage safety and policies.
• Ensure store is adequately staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Open the store a minimum of two times per week; close the store at least two times per week.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends and expense control opportunities.
• Review ordering plan and inventory management; follow up on stock replenishment.
• Staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Present merchandise according to established practices with proper pricing and signage.
• Maintain inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scans, and paperwork.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe store environment.
• Ensure store is equipped with necessary tools.
• Follow SOPs and company policies; ensure compliance.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
