Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store operations, staffing, training, and customer service. You will manage ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, scheduling and staff development to meet store goals and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities include performance coaching, payroll-related decisions, and ensuring safety and loss-prevention measures across daily store activities.

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading diagrams and safety rules.
• Strong math skills for calculations and percentages.
• Experience with cash handling and deposits.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory and merchandising practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of hiring and termination practices, including compliance.
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems in varied situations.
• Spanish bilingual abilities preferred for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees in compliance with labor laws and company policies.
• Provide training and conduct performance evaluations; counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rates and advancement.
• Communicate performance, safety and policy expectations regularly; coordinate meetings.
• Open and close the store as required, minimum twice weekly.
• Analyze sales, profitability, and inventory trends; identify optimization opportunities.
• Oversee stock replenishment and weekly inventory checks.
• Ensure proper merchandising, pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory and cash controls.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Keep the store clean, safe and well-organized.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available to perform tasks.
• Follow SOPs and deadlines; complete paperwork timely.
