Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store processes from staffing and training to inventory management and customer service leadership. You will hire, train, evaluate, and counsel staff, ensure proper opening/closing procedures, and drive sales through effective merchandising and compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, cash handling knowledge, and the ability to manage budgets, scheduling, and store security while maintaining a safe shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and store security practices.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and company policies.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rates and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly.
• Ensure store opens and closes properly each day.
• Personally open/close the store multiple times per week.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends and profitability.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets and review inventory weekly.
• Facilitate staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise.
• Maintain presentation, pricing, and signage; ensure accurate inventory levels.
• Maintain cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized store.
• Ensure store has necessary tools and adheres to SOPs and policies.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
