Books-A-Million, Inc. is seeking an Assistant General Manager for a 2nd & Charles store in Richmond. You will lead the team, coach associates, and own the buy-sell-trade experience while delivering exceptional customer service daily.

The role emphasizes ownership of results, people development, and strong merchandising. Full-time leadership role with open availability and weekend shifts, based at the store location.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older
• Previous supervisor experience
• Demonstrated ability to act in a mature and conscientious manner
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills
• Successful completion of all required background screenings

Responsibilities

• Lead the store operations and team in line with company policies; drive exceptional customer experience and strong results.
• As Manager On Duty, collaborate with the management team to set expectations and momentum.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment; foster accountability and performance across the store.
• Attract, develop, and retain talent; empower associates to thrive from day one.
• Grow leadership by coaching, training, and succession planning to build future store leaders.
• Communicate goals, plans, and progress through daily briefings and weekly meetings.
• Create schedules and daily agendas aligned with business needs.
