Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead daily store operations and work with the management team to maximize sales and customer service. You will act as MOD, supervise staff, and ensure execution of policies while driving profits and efficiency.

The role involves hiring and onboarding, training associates, managing schedules, and maintaining high security and customer satisfaction. This position is full-time and requires open availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Experience in a supervisor role.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated mature and conscientious behavior.
• Ability to supervise many associates.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead category team to maximize profits and customer service, adhering to company policies.
• Operate store as MOD with management team.
• Maintain store security as a key-holding manager.
• Ensure top customer service and resolve complaints satisfactorily.
• Maintain category merchandising, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain category cadencing and stock levels within monthly budget.
• Assist GM with interviewing, hiring and onboarding new talent.
• Train and develop associates and leads.
• Facilitate communication through daily briefings and weekly meetings.
• Audit buyback processes to ensure policy compliance.
• Consult with GM on associate performance.
• Handle bank deposits and change orders as needed.
• Create schedules and daily agendas to match store needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
