Books-A-Million’s 2nd & Charles division seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead the store, coach the team, and partner with the General Manager to deliver an outstanding customer and community experience. As Manager On Duty, you’ll own store results, drive merchandising standards, build schedules, and grow future leaders in a fast-paced, book-loving environment.

This full-time role requires age 21+, high school diploma, and prior supervisory experience with opportunities for career growth

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a supervisor role.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills.
• Successful completion of all required background screenings.
• College degree in a business-related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead store to deliver exceptional customer experience and business results.
• Coach and develop associates; mentor through daily leadership.
• Create schedules and daily agendas aligned with business needs.
• Maintain store standards: merchandising, cleanliness, and operations.
• Oversee buy/sell/trade operations; ensure proper processes.
• Partner with General Manager to grow the next generation of leaders.
