Job summary

Books-A-Million in Richmond, VA, is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead a 2nd & Charles store location. You will act as Manager On Duty, coach Associates, and collaborate with the General Manager to deliver outstanding customer experiences and community engagement.

You will own results, drive merchandising excellence, and develop leadership within the team, while managing schedules and daily briefings to keep everyone aligned and motivated.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates and lead teams.
• Merchandising savvy with sound decision-making and ability to complete background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead store operations as Manager On Duty, guiding the team to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
• Partner with the General Manager to recruit, onboard, and develop Associates; grow future store leaders.
• Maintain high store standards for customer service, merchandising, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
• Oversee scheduling, daily agendas, and communications to align with store goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
