Books-A-Million in Colonial Heights, VA is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead as Manager On Duty, coach store teams, and grow into a broader leadership role. You’ll drive operations, customer experience, and store performance while partnering with the General Manager.

As a leader, you’ll develop Associates, manage schedules, and ensure compliance with company policies, with a focus on community engagement and growth of the business.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous supervisor experience.
• Demonstrated mature/conscientious behavior.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates.
• Strong decision-making and communication skills.
• Successful completion of required background screenings.
• Preferred: business-related degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead store as Manager On Duty and partner with the General Manager.
• Oversee execution of store operations, driving sales and profits.
• Train and develop Associates to ensure accountability.
• Maintain customer experience and store standards.
• Create schedules and daily agendas aligned with business needs.
• Foster a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff.
• Support talent attraction and onboarding of new associates.
• Collaborate with GM to strengthen performance and culture.
