Job summary

Family Dollar in Gary, IN is seeking a customer-focused team member to greet customers, assist with merchandise, and complete sales transactions using the POS system. You will support store operations, help unload deliveries, stock shelves, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment.

In this role you may open or close the store, assist the Store Manager with daily activities, and uphold asset protection while delivering excellent service to customers and the community.

Qualifications

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with merchandise and location
• Ability to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Accurate handling of customer funds and processing transactions
• Stocking shelves and maintaining store cleanliness and appearance
• Assist in unloading deliveries and transferring merchandise from stockroom to floor

Responsibilities

• Greet, assist and thank customers in a positive manner
• Communicate store standards and procedures to team members
• Build average basket through suggestive selling and add-ons
• Open/close duties in absence of Store Manager/Asst Store Manager
• Maintain asset protection and safety in the store
• Ensure accurate cash handling and POS transactions
• Support deliveries and replenishment
• Keep records and deposits/documents when needed
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned
