Job summary

Safeway in Bend, Oregon seeks a Store PIC to lead operations during the Store Manager’s absence and to deliver friendly customer service. You will supervise associates, assist cashiers, and ensure smooth daily store functions while maintaining a high standard of service.

The role requires strong customer service, the ability to follow directions, and willingness to work across departments. Prior clerk or supervisory experience is a plus and beneficial for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within policy.
• Supervise store personnel and handle emergencies.
• Maintain familiarity with policies and procedures.
• Supervise the sales floor and monitor service and replenishment.
• Replace stock in displays around the checkout area.
• Assist in keeping a clean and safe work environment.
• Help cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and staff.
• Operate cash register and total customers’ final bill.
• Receive payment and count back change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out.
• May handle close of day tasks in the office.
• May count tills when others leave.
• Other duties as assigned.
