Job summary

Steve Madden is seeking a full-time Store Assistant Manager to support store operations and guide a team of brand advocates in delivering an exceptional customer experience aligned with our brand values.

You will partner with the Store Manager on profitability, merchandising, and community engagement, while ensuring compliance with loss prevention and safety policies. Experience in retail leadership and staff development is essential.

Qualifications

• Retail experience (3–5 years) required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate people, resources, and services to address business goals and needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of retail operations including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Experience staffing, coaching, and staff development.
• Proficiency with POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Manager to maximize profitability by ensuring customer engagement, merchandising, operations, and community connection align with company standards.
• Create amazing customer experiences through strong client focus and collaboration, ensuring the team is motivated to deliver memorable experiences.
• Partner with the Store Manager to implement visual merchandising directives to maintain the brand strategies.
• Ensure appropriate replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor.
• Partner with the Store Manager to ensure compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in various store operations, including training, operations, sales, visual merchandising, inventory management, store administration, cleaning duties, and customer service.
• Foster an environment of development and accountability.
