Job summary

Steve Madden Store is seeking a Store Assistant Manager to partner with the Store Manager on all store operations and to lead a team in delivering an exceptional customer experience aligned with the brand values.

The role emphasizes staff development, merchandising execution, inventory control, and adherence to loss prevention policies while supporting daily store administration and training activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate people, resources, and services to address business goals and needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Understanding of how to develop staff with experience in staffing, coaching, counseling, etc.
• Ability to process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Manager to maximize profitability by ensuring customer engagement, merchandising, operations, and community connection align with company standards.
• Create amazing customer experiences through strong client focus and collaboration, motivating the team to deliver memorable experiences.
• Partner with the Store Manager to implement visual merchandising directives to maintain brand strategies.
• Ensure appropriate replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor.
• Partner with the Store Manager to ensure compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and company directives.
• Assist in store operations including training, operations, sales, visual merchandising, inventory management, and store administration.
• Foster an environment of development and accountability.
• Process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.
• Assist Store Manager in hiring of qualified candidates.
• Be flexible and occasionally perform work outside your specific role.
