Job summary

Steve Madden is seeking a Store Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in all store operations and to guide a team of brand advocates in delivering an exceptional customer experience aligned with the brand values.

The role combines people leadership, merchandising, and operational duties, including training, inventory, and loss prevention, with a focus on driving profitability and a positive, service-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate people, resources and services to address business goals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget prep, and loss prevention.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Understanding of how to develop staff with staffing, coaching, counseling, etc.
• Ability to process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS system.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Manager to maximize profitability by ensuring customer engagement, merchandising, operations and community connection align with company standards.
• Create amazing customer experiences through strong client focus and collaboration to motivate the team.
• Partner with the Store Manager to implement visual merchandising directives to maintain brand strategies.
• Ensure appropriate replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor.
• Partner with the Store Manager to ensure compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and company directives.
• Assist in training, operations, sales, visual merchandising, inventory management, store administration, cleaning, and customer service.
• Foster an environment of development and accountability.
• Process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.
• Assist Store Manager in selecting and hiring qualified candidates.
• Be flexible and occasionally perform work outside your specific role.
