Job summary

Steve Madden is seeking a Store Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in all store operations and to develop a high-performing team that delivers exceptional customer experiences. This role emphasizes leadership, merchandising, and loss-prevention adherence.

The candidate will coordinate schedules, train associates, manage inventory, and ensure store standards are met while fostering a collaborative environment and representing the brand with excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate people, resources, and services to address business goals and needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Understanding of how to develop staff with staffing, coaching, counseling, etc.
• Ability to process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Manager to maximize profitability by ensuring customer engagement, merchandising, operations, and community connection are consistent with company standards.
• Create amazing customer experiences through strong client focus and collaboration, motivating the team to deliver memorable experiences.
• Partner with the Store Manager to implement visual merchandising directives to maintain brand strategies.
• Ensure appropriate replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor.
• Partner with the Store Manager to ensure compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in training, operations, sales, visual merchandising, inventory management, store administration, cleaning duties, and customer service.
• Foster an environment of development and accountability.
• Process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.
• Assist Store Manager in the selection and hiring of qualified candidates.
• Be flexible and occasionally perform work outside your specific role.
