Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Afterschool STEM coordinator to design and deliver a project-based STEM curriculum across multiple grade levels. You will guide students in hands-on activities, foster teamwork, and ensure a safe, inclusive learning space at our afterschool sites.

Responsibilities include coordinating materials, supporting a learning culture, and aligning activities with OCFS/DOH standards while promoting core YMCA values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in science, technology, engineering, or math preferred.
• Experience working with children under 13 is required.
• Content expert in designated subject matter.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive STEM curriculum with clear, measurable goals for multiple grade levels.
• Lead daily STEM activities in a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, and technology needs for projects.
• Plan logistics and safety considerations for science and engineering activities.
• Assess participant progress through formal and informal methods.
