Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York's Vanderbilt YMCA in New York, NY seeks an Activity Specialist to provide STEM enrichment in the Y Afterschool program. You will design engaging, project-based lessons and supervise safe, inclusive activities for school-age children.

The role focuses on hands-on STEM instruction, collaboration with staff and families, and developing a positive, learning‑oriented environment that supports growth and curiosity in youth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. College credits and related field education preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in science, technology, engineering, or math.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive STEM curriculum with measurable goals and project-based lessons.
• Lead daily STEM activities in a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Incorporate literacy tasks when appropriate within STEM projects throughout the year.
• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants at all times.
• Collaborate with Afterschool Group Leaders, staff, teachers, and partners.
