Job summary

Harlem YMCA in New York seeks an Activity Specialist to design and deliver STEM instruction within the Y Afterschool program, including Holiday Camps. Under supervision of the Program Director, you will create age-appropriate lessons and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.

You will lead hands-on activities, assess progress, and help participants develop teamwork, problem solving, and basic literacy skills while aligning with OCFS and DOH standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college credits and related field preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in science, technology, engineering, or math.
• Direct experience working with children under the age of 13.
• Content expert in the designated subject matter.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive STEM curriculum with detailed lesson plans and measurable goals for multiple grade levels.
• Lead and facilitate daily STEM activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Incorporate literacy elements into projects and promote teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
