Job summary

The Castle Hill YMCA is seeking an Activity Specialist to deliver age-appropriate STEM instruction in the Y Afterschool program, Bronx, NY. This part-time role focuses on creating engaging learning experiences and hands-on projects.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, you design a comprehensive STEM curriculum, lead daily activities, support teamwork and critical thinking, and help plan an end-of-cycle showcase while promoting safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
• Minimum of two years experience in science, technology, engineering, or math.
• Direct experience working with children under 13.
• Content expert in the designated STEM subject matter.
• General knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and inclusive skills.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive STEM curriculum with lesson plans and measurable goals.
• Plan project-based lessons including coding, robotics, and engineering.
• Ensure materials, equipment, and safety considerations are managed.
• Lead daily STEM activities and foster teamwork and critical thinking.
• Prepare end-of-cycle showcase and assist with event setup.
• Maintain program documentation and communicate with parents/guardians.
