Job summary

The West Side YMCA in New York, NY is seeking an Activity Specialist to provide afterschool STEM enrichment and manage a safe, engaging program for school-age children. You will design age-appropriate, project-based lessons and lead daily activities, encouraging teamwork, problem solving, and growth.

Qualifications

• Two years of STEM-related teaching or program experience with youth under 13.
• Direct experience working with children under 13.
• Content expert in the designated STEM subject.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with diverse youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Design STEM curriculum with measurable goals for various grade levels.
• Lead daily STEM activities in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Secure materials and plan safety considerations.
• Assess participant progress and organize end-of-cycle showcase.
• Collaborate with staff and partners to meet standards.
