Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Statewide Mail Reviewer at State Farm Correctional Center to process legal mail and other materials for inmates statewide in compliance with federal, state and departmental rules.

The role maintains documentation, prepares reports, and assists Centralized Mail Distribution Center staff with mail procedures, including identifying suspicious items while keeping required records. A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Working knowledge of basic office practices and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process all legal mail, books, magazines, newspapers and religious material for inmates statewide.
• Receive and distribute materials daily in compliance with regulations.
• Develop, update and maintain related documentation and reports.
• Assist Centralized Mail Distribution Center staff with mail processing procedures and identify suspicious items while maintaining required documentation.
