Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a Mail Center Supervisor to coordinate and supervise all USPS and UPS mail operations at the institutional level.

You will deliver and pick up mail, inspect for contraband, maintain records, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with USPS and SCDC rules. A high school diploma and 3 years of postal/delivery experience with 1 year supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.
• Three years of experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations with one year of supervisory experience.
• An associate degree or higher may substitute for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise all mail delivery and pickup between USPS, UPS and institutional mail.
• Inspect mail for contraband and ensure compliance with policies.
• Maintain records of money instruments and mail-related transactions.
• Direct and supervise receiving and distribution of departmental mail.
• Plan work assignments and staff training.
• Research inmate location records to handle mail properly.
