Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a mailroom supervisor to receive, sort, and distribute mail, coordinate postal services, and supervise staff. You will ensure accurate records, billing, and compliance with policy and procedures.

You will also handle inmate legal mail, assist with postage meters, and cover mailroom duties when the director is absent. Training is required after hire.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.
• An associate degree or higher may be substituted for the required work experience.
• Must successfully complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail.
• Coordinates agency postal services and supervises mail handling staff.
• Maintains insured and registered mail records and billing records.
• Ensures inmate legal mail is processed per policy and procedures.
• Assists with postage meter maintenance and monthly reports.
• Performs mailroom duties in the absence of the postal director.
