Job summary

Salesforce is hiring a Software Engineer at the MTS or SMTS level to join the IT Employee Success & Finance Platform, Data and Innovations team. You will build reliable, scalable platform capabilities for Employee Success and Finance systems and evolve our observability and data platforms across enterprise integrations.

The role involves leading design at the SMTS level, mentoring engineers, and influencing long-term architecture while collaborating with security, data, and other engineering

Qualifications

• Professional software development experience building and operating production systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go.
• Experience with or strong interest in observability, telemetry, logging, alerting, data pipelines, or data platforms.
• Familiarity with open-source technologies and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and security/vulnerability practices.
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS; GCP experience is a plus.
• Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and system design principles.
• Strong collaboration and communication across engineering and business teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate telemetry, observability, logging, and alerting systems providing real-time visibility into health and performance.
• Advance observability beyond dashboards to proactive, AI- and agent-assisted issue detection and root-cause analysis.
• Build and evolve data pipelines and platform services integrating enterprise systems like Workday and Salesforce.
• Enable analytics and AI use cases through reliable, secure, governed data.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, security scanning, and vulnerability checks.
• Build scalable infrastructure and services using open-source technologies on AWS, with some workloads on GCP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve developer experience, data reliability, and operational intelligence.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning.
• Promote engineering best practices for code quality, testing, security, and reliability.
• Contribute to reusable technical patterns, standards, and platform documentation.
