Job summary

Salesforce is hiring a Software Engineer at the MTS or SMTS level to join the IT Employee Success (ES) & Finance Platform, Data and Innovations team. You will design, build, and operate platform components and data pipelines, collaborating with engineers to deliver scalable, observable services on AWS and some GCP workloads.

Qualifications

• Professional software development experience building and operating production systems.
• Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages, such as Java, Python, or Go.
• Experience with—or a strong interest in—observability, telemetry, logging, alerting, data pipelines, or data platforms.
• Familiarity with open‑source technologies and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and foundational security or vulnerability‑management practices.
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS; GCP experience is a plus.
• Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and system‑design principles.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and business teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate telemetry, observability, logging, and alerting systems for real‑time visibility into health and performance.
• Advance observability beyond dashboards toward proactive AI‑assisted issue detection and root‑cause analysis.
• Build and evolve data pipelines and platform services integrating Workday, Salesforce, and other enterprise systems.
• Enable reporting, analytics, and AI use cases through reliable, governed data.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security checks.
• Develop scalable infrastructure using open‑source tech, primarily on AWS, with some GCP workloads.
• Collaborate with Employee Success, Finance, security, and data teams to improve developer experience and data reliability.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning.
• Promote engineering best practices for code quality, testing, security, and reliability.
• Contribute to reusable patterns, standards, and platform documentation.
