Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a staff-level Staff Engineer to own production operations across AWS and container environments. You’ll drive reliability, automation, and scalable architectures for PlayStation services, collaborating with SRE, data services and product teams.

The role emphasizes full-stack capability, strong automation instincts, and experience with AI-assisted workflows to improve release confidence and delivery speed. On-site presence in San Diego is expected.

Qualifications

BS degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical area.
10+ years operating and supporting services in production environments at scale.
5+ years AWS Cloud experience deploying, tuning and operating Java/API services.

Responsibilities

Lead application operations and production support for internal and public-facing services in AWS and container environments.
Define and evolve production operations architecture and readiness standards.
Architect and scale tools and automation for telemetry, release validation and readiness.
Establish CI/CD gates and governance for release confidence and velocity.
Advance observability and incident metrics to reduce MTTR and MTTD.
Partner with SRE, data services and platform teams to improve reliability.
Lead performance, capacity planning and cost optimization in cloud environments.
Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and automation.
Provide rotational on-call support and improve incident workflows.
