Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Design Researcher for the Platform Design and Research team. You will define the research vision across foundational systems and tools powering Coinbase products and translate insights into opportunities and shipped solutions.

You will conduct generative and evaluative research with engineers, PMs, and customers, driving high-quality deliverables and influencing roadmaps through evidence-based presentations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in user research and product design, including setting research vision and leading research for complex, technical, or platform-scale products and systems.
• Strategic-level influence with senior cross-functional and executive stakeholders through research-driven insights and compelling design presentations.
• Expert-level proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Figma or equivalent), producing polished deliverables for leadership.
• Strong qualitative research methods and judgment on method selection to solve ambiguous problems.
• Track record building research practices, operating models, or measurement programs that scale impact beyond a single team.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Define and own Platform research vision, strategy, prioritization, and engagement models connecting customer insight to product decisions.
• Own and run Platform's internal CSAT program, design surveys, set cadence, analyze results, and report to leadership.
• Conduct and lead generative, evaluative, and mixed-methods research with engineers, product managers, and customers across Identity, Payments, and Developer Experience.
• Drive high-quality design deliverables including polished prototypes, interaction flows, and visual storytelling standards.
• Partner with senior leaders to influence roadmaps and investments through evidence-based research and compelling presentations.
• Contribute to design system adoption and create scalable research repositories and frameworks across the product area.
• Coach designers and product partners on research rigor and design craft to raise the quality bar.
