Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Design Researcher to set the research vision for Platform across Identity, Payments, and Developer Experience. You will translate ambiguous problems into high-impact product opportunities and deliverables.

You will lead generative and evaluative research with engineers, PMs, and customers, shaping roadmaps through evidence-based insights and polished design presentations. You will mentor designers, contribute to design systems, and drive scalable research practices

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading research for complex, platform-scale products.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders through research-driven insights and compelling presentations.
• Expert-level proficiency with design/prototyping tools (Figma) and creating polished deliverables.
• Strong command of qualitative methods and ability to introduce new approaches.
• Track record building scalable research practices and contributing to design systems.
• Responsible use of AI to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining oversight.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the research practice for Platform, setting vision, strategy, prioritization, and engagement models.
• Own and run Platform's internal CSAT program, designing surveys and reporting results to leadership.
• Lead generative, evaluative, and mixed-methods research with engineers, product managers, and customers across Identity, Payments, and Developer Experience.
• Drive design quality through prototypes, interaction flows, and visual storytelling that set the standard for the product area.
• Partner with senior leaders as a cross-functional lead in strategy planning, influencing roadmaps with evidence-based research.
• Contribute to design system adoption and create scalable research repositories and frameworks.
• Coach and mentor designers and product partners on research rigor and design craft.
