Job summary

Axon is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer, Communications Hardware in a hybrid role with hubs in New York City, Boston, and Scottsdale. You will own mechanical design from concept through high-volume production for compact, ruggedized, wireless hardware and partner across ID, EE, RF and manufacturing to meet demanding field needs.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in mechanical design for rugged electronics, 5+ years in technical leadership, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of mechanical product design experience in ruggedized electronics.
• 5+ years of technical leadership experience guiding teams of 3+ mechanical engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from concept through high-volume production for compact, ruggedized, wireless-connected hardware.
• Balance product requirements across size, weight, durability, sealing, thermal and RF performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Design for carry and wear ergonomics, including belt-, holster-, and body-mounted form factors and one-handed operation.
• Collaborate with ID, EE, RF, PM and manufacturing teams to translate product requirements into robust, production-ready designs.
