Job summary

Axon is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of next‑generation communications hardware from concept to mass production. You will collaborate with ID, EE, RF, PM and manufacturing to ensure robust, rugged devices that meet durability, sealing, thermal, and RF requirements.

You will lead mechanical engineering efforts across development stages, drive DFM/DFA, and support fast ramp to production while preserving product aesthetics and user experience.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of mechanical product design experience, including ruggedized/portable electronics.
• 5+ years of technical leadership, guiding teams of 3+ mechanical engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience in DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, FEA, prototyping, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from concept through high-volume production for compact, rugged hardware.
• Balance size, weight, durability, sealing, thermal, RF performance, manufacturability and cost in designs.
• Partner with ID, EE, RF, PM, and manufacturing to translate requirements into production-ready designs.
• Drive designs from early concepts through mass production while maintaining UX and aesthetics.
