Job summary

Axon is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer, Communications Hardware to own the mechanical design from concept through high‑volume production for rugged, wireless devices used by public safety professionals.

You will collaborate with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, RF, Product Management and manufacturing, balancing durability, sealing, RF performance and thermal constraints while driving designs to production.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of mechanical product design experience.
• 5+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from concept through high‑volume production.
• Balance requirements across size, weight, durability, sealing, thermal performance, RF performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Design for field durability with IP66/IP68 protection and ruggedization standards.
• Collaborate with ID, EE, RF, PM and manufacturing to scale hardware and meet certification requirements.
