Job summary

Axon is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of next-generation, rugged, wireless hardware from concept through mass production. You’ll own critical mechanical decisions and collaborate across ID, EE, RF, PM, and manufacturing teams.

You will drive robust designs for durability, sealing, thermal management, battery integration and ergonomics while enabling scalable production and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of mechanical product design experience, ideally in ruggedized, portable, or compact electronic products.
• 5+ years of technical leadership experience, including leading teams of 3+ mechanical engineers.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through EVT/DVT/PVT to high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from concept through high-volume production for compact, ruggedized hardware.
• Balance design requirements across size, weight, durability, sealing, thermal, RF, manufacturability and cost.
• Design components using plastic injection molding, stamped metal, die casting, machining, adhesives and bonded joints.
• Validate designs with FEA, tolerance analysis and physical testing.
• Drive DFM/DFA and production readiness in collaboration with vendors and manufacturing partners.
